POSITION SUMMARY

As part of the Web Operations team, the Systems Engineer designs, builds, and supports technologies to provide a world-class SaaS platform. The System Engineer works in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment with the desire for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and skills.  The System Engineer provides the infrastructure building blocks for development and ensures that the operational systems meet their service level goals.

• Demonstrate proficient troubleshooting skills to provide resolution to incidents and problem management projects.

• Execute tasks on time and in accordance to best practices and quality standards.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing operations of server hardware, operating systems, and applications used in the production environments.
• Develop infrastructure as code using Chef, Github, Test Kitchen, Jenkins, and Ruby.
• Engage with Development and Product Management to develop, scale, and improve production systems and services.
• Monitor and administer systems as assigned to provide appropriate documentation, cross-training, capacity management, and recommendations for future state.
• Participate in an on-call support schedule.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Experience administering Linux – Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat, CentOS
• Experience administering VMware ESX clustered environments

 Preferred

• Experience participating in Agile Development Methodology and task execution- not a must have
• Experience with Amazon Web Services including EC2, RDS, Dynamo DB, Route53, Elastic Load Balancers,  AMIs, IAM Roles, Ops Works, and Cloud Formation
• Experience with Automation, Configuration Management, Continuous Integration, and related tools including Chef, Github, Test Kitchen, Jenkins, and Ruby development
• College Degree or equivalent years of experience
• 3 or more years of experience in the Information Technology field
• Demonstrated understanding of networking systems including, TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, BIND DNS, IP subnets
• Demonstrated understanding of various identity and authorization systems including Open LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, and SAML implementations
• Demonstrated knowledge of storage systems including iSCSI SAN, Direct Attached Storage (JBOD), and NFS
