Director, IT
OVERVIEW
The Director of IT will oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s IT Support team and global infrastructure. This position will bring a current knowledge of technology and systems, providing leadership and direction to all IT team members. The position is responsible for integrating the IT strategy with department-specific application needs, and developing appropriate IT and Security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry best practices.
The successful candidate will have a technical background, and have working knowledge of all other fields within IT including: Windows and Linux Server Operations, Global Desktop and Site Support, Help Desk, Information Security, and Collaboration Technologies (Voice/Video Conferencing/Mobile Devices). Having successfully managed IT teams in other fast-growing environments, the IT Director will be comfortable in an environment of uncertainty and rapid change, will be an expert problem solver, and will proactively utilize documentation to create repeatable processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides support and leadership for our enterprise-wide systems design, planning and end-user support in a 24X7 environment.
- Partners with top level management and maintains a continuous 360-degree view of the company.
- Serves as the primary liaison to the company’s Managed Hosting and Cloud Based providers.
- Enables our employees with every internal competitive advantage possible.
- Ensures the organizations corporate IT infrastructure is secure, scalable, flexible and compliant.
- Proactively identify gaps, risks and issues and navigates organizational structure to resolve them.
- Act as an advocate for the organization’s IT and Security visions via regular communication and collaboration with the Executive Team, department leaders and stakeholders, and key end users.
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of IT and Security processes, compliance, policies, and procedures for ensuring that applications, network systems and assets are safeguarded.
- Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT and Security applications and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
- Ensure smooth operation of team, high quality delivery of desktop and office support; gauge user success and satisfaction, and design program for continuous improvement. Identify and fix problems before they are noticed.
- Create and maintain standards for office system design; document plans for rapid, consistent, repeatable and predictable deployment of new offices and work locations.
- Serve as primary liaison with Facilities and other groups for providing IT services to all company locations worldwide.
- Drive excellence across all IT functions, institute metrics (satisfaction, SLA, etc) and processes to guarantee scalability, reliability and efficiency.
- Provide annual IT budgeting to maintain organizational operations and support enterprise growth.
- Understand disaster recovery (DR) requirement and know how to coordinate with IT service provider to invoke procedures in the event of the disaster.
- Single point of contact to executive leadership for all IT related projects and initiatives ensuring proper follow up and communication.
- Manage deployment and ongoing support of desktops, laptops and corporate services (file systems, backups, printing services, VPN etc) to the main office and remote locations.
- Support smartphones and mobile devices (iphones, Androids, tablets, etc).
- Manage and expand cpmpany’s multi location network, providing access to internal resources to 500+ employees, constantly monitoring for performance and reliability.
- Hands on experience with routing, switches VPN solutions, firewalls corporate switches.
- Manage licensing and IT asset purchasing and management, and responsible for acquiring tools and technologies needed to support business growth and efficiency.
- Support expansion to new facilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of 6-8 years of IT management experience in growing company.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain complex, multi-site IT infrastructure
- Experience managing Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience deploying & operating Video Conferencing and VoIP phone systems
- Networking technology, Corporate Wi-Fi
- Excellent project management, documentation and verbal communication skills
- Proactive leader; “get it done” mentality, while following change control methods and processes
- Proven experience in corporate Information Security best practices and with audit and compliance
- Experience building and operating IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Experience scaling an IT infrastructure through company acquisitions including international expansion
- Ability to travel to remote offices as needed
EDUCATION PREFERENCE
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field of study, or equivalent experience
