1879 - Chief Architect - Minneapolis

The Chief Architect will provide technical leadership and direction to a growing team of technology professionals to deliver Technology and Data Strategy, and Architectural services to Software Engineers and translate high-level operational and technical requirements into comprehensive IT solutions, ensuring that systems are leading edge. Additionally the Chief Architect will ensure an architectural and technical consistent approach across the portfolio of projects and lead the development of Web Services interface specifications, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) governance, and overall SOA architecture for the enterprise. The Chief Architect will provide functional Systems Architectural and Cloud expertise and analytical support and analytical support for the management of the proposal process, contract negotiations, operating budgets, the financial terms and conditions of contracts, and program review sessions.

Responsibilities include:
• Cultivate relationships with business stakeholders.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of strategic business plans.
• Design and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
• Deliver architectural initiatives that drive revenue and improve efficiency in line with business strategy.
• Cultivate relationships with business and IT management.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures.
• Develop and maintain current and planned state architectural blueprints.
• Develop and maintain a aspirational architectural road map for the enterprise.
• Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies.
• Gain organizational commitment for enterprise level architecture and infrastructure initiatives.
• Provide architectural direction to IT and Development.
• Develop architectural metrics and reports for the executive team.
• Oversee the design and implementation of enterprise data and metadata structures.
• Develop and enforce best practices for master data management and integration.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies.
• Support business and IT strategic planning.
• Support product development teams.
• Develop, communicate and deploy Enterprise Architecture Governance processes.
• Develop and communicate enterprise technology standards and policies.
• Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions.
• Document and design database architecture for our current and new applications
• Communicate regularly with applications and operations staff in order to ensure database integrity and security
• Design Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform
• Work closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications and skills:
• 15-20 years’ experience in IT/ Business with successfully directing large teams of IT professionals. Experience with big data, data warehouses, and business intelligence SOA architecture and Web services using XML technologies.
• 10 years practicing Enterprise Architect in global company, end-to-end all disciplines.

• Understanding of project management and quality assurance roles within the SDLC and Agile development methodology.
• The person must be an innovative, analytical, thinker in order to develop conceptual informatics solutions to scientific problems and integration into other information systems, internally and externally.
• Understand current development technologies (Linux, MySQL, PHP, Apache, Java, XML, web services).
• Ability to multi-task and react positively to multiple priorities and demands on time.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. Skilled in liaison activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with multiple software development life cycle methodologies (including 2+ years of Agile) and requirements' documentation approaches (features, user stories, use cases, domain models, logical data models).
• Willingness to take initiative, be creative & flexible, and to be able to adapt to a changing environment.
• Able to work effectively and collegially with colleagues from a wide range of roles and backgrounds
• Detail oriented with the ability to maintain a “big picture” perspective.
