1874 - iSeries Systems Admin - Southwest Mpls Sub

This position provides day-to-day operational, technical and security support for iSeries systems. This includes system administration functions, database integrity functions, security functions as well as operating system upgrades, PTF’s, device configurations and management of system processing, output and authorities. The Systems Operations Specialist will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues pertaining to the i5 systems and peripherals. This position incorporates all of the responsibilities of the System Engineer position.

Responsibilities:
• Performs primary Security Officer responsibilities in creating user profiles, job queues, output queues, libraries, menus, etc. as needed to provide users with access to iSeries data and programs. Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of access control through system security settings to ensure system integrity and meet established security guidelines.
• Establishes and maintains required system environments for development, testing and production processing.
• Monitor batch processing and coordinate the execution of daily, weekly and monthly production processing.
• Monitors system functions and performance and conducts system tuning activities to ensure that iSeries systems meet established performance and processing guidelines and schedules.
• Installs application software and Operating System patches, fixes and new releases as required to repair system problems and/or add capabilities.
• Assists in the establishment, documentation and execution of backup/restore, maintenance/repair, and Disaster Recovery procedures for iSeries systems.
• Code, debug, and modify new and existing applications specific to automation of operational, security and system administration processes.
• Collaborate with other IT personnel to establish communications between iSeries and other systems and locations.

Qualifications
• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in networking technical field.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to contribute expertise and mentor others.
• Ability to develop problem-solving framework (options and plans) for business.
• Ability to provide direction to team members
• Ability to work additional hours to meet deadlines and/or complete projects.
• Extensive experience with iSeries hardware, peripherals and operating systems
• Ability to conduct research into system issues and products as required
• Highly self motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
