1780 - SQL Database Administrator - St. Paul, MN

Responsibilities:
• Maintain databases supporting the application and infrastructure environments; and the software, data placement, integrity, structure, performance, capacity, availability, recoverability and security of the database information
• Work with application development teams to control code and structure migrations into production, identify performance bottlenecks, recommend solutions, and provide direction to optimize the utilization of resources
• Be responsible for maintaining the system maintenance plans and ensure that recovery plans are in place and tested
• Examine day to day systems processes and recommend improvements
• Observe system and application failures/bottlenecks and recommend approaches to resolve and prevent them
• Propose new ways to leverage capabilities and capacities of a multi-site multi-tiered data center environment
• Deploy and maintain new technologies and SQL databases, instances and services to meet application and customer needs
• Construct in multiple SQL configurations including geographically disperse (asynchronous distance) datacenters, and support remote stand-alone sites
• Carry out regular checks on SQL server and database status and will participate in on-call rotation
• Respond promptly to system issues to issues or incidents raised during the normal system and application processing
• Handle escalations from the IT Service Center or IT Operations for application, server or storage related issues
• Support the daily operations of the database and appropriately applies resources to ensure integrity and uptime\availability of the enterprise systems.
• Manage relationships with vendor technical support resources to resolve problems quickly and restore service in the event of issues
• Implement effective solutions consistent with the size and scope of the business need

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 10 years of experience with Windows SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Visio and its components: Collaboration, Document Management, Work Flow and Content Management
• Knowledge of relevant Microsoft technologies including, clustering, load balancing, patching, database security and policy control, system maintenance plans
• Experience implementing solutions for multi-tiered applications on Windows platforms
• May be asked to work outside normal business hours to ensure service availability
