Bioinformatics Research department.
The candidate must have the following skills:
• Above average written and oral communication skills
• Attention to detail with a quality focus
• Strong organizational skills; self-directed to work effectively independently or in project teams
• Healthcare, biology or informatics background will be helpful.
Experience:• Four years technical work experience in a development environment which included two years experience performing business analysis for software development
• Experience with developing requirements for data analysis/data warehousing/business intelligence.
• Experience in a research/analysis environment.
Key knowledge:
• Knowledge of software development life-cycle methodologies.
• Application development technologies and development tools.
• Knowledge of relational databases
• Biology background useful.
Key Skills:• Excellent written and oral communications skills required. Ability to prioritize own work and the work of others, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
Education:
• Bachelors degree in math, computer science, or a technical field that required extensive computer programming as part of the degree program. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Job Accountabilities:1. Perform analysis and programming as required to satisfy Bioinformatics data requirements:
• Works with clients to research requests and define user requirements.
• Assists in the formulation of system scope, objectives, and design.
• Assists in the formulation of development schedules for assigned work.
• Develop project artifacts (statement of work, project specification)
• Maintains communication with customers to ensure systems meet requirements.
• Provides services as required using bioinformatics analysis tools.
• Provides timely and up-to-date status of assigned tasks and identifies problem areas early.
1. 2. Project Leadership
• Implements, monitors and reports on individual timelines for each project.
• Directs and maintains communications with users to ensure that requirements are met during each phase of the development process.
• Prepares effective written and oral reports, and presentations as requested
