Data Warehouse Architect oversees the evolving architecture of data warehouse by either changing existing warehouse and data mart data models or developing new models to support new or expanded data content.
Will be involved in the day to day operations of the warehouse helping to solve data quality issues and working with database administration to ensure optimal query processing. Additionally, this position designs and develops ETL to load and make available data to Medica and it's business partners.
Key Accountabilities: • Designs and creates robust, sustainable architecture(s) that support requirements and provides for expansion. This includes design and development of both the integration layer of the data warehouse, and most importantly, the design and implementation of dimensionally modeled data marts
• Evaluates and selects various data warehousing tools and components
• Develop standards and processes to insure best practices in development and operations of data warehouse.
• Communicates physical database designs to database administrator
• Evolves models to meet new and changing business requirements
• Develops processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousing components
• Maps source system data to data warehouse models.
• Defines and captures metadata and rules associated with ETL processes.
• Adapts ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements
• Maintains effective communication throughout the lifecycle with the project manager and/or Lead architect in regard to status.
• Creates documentation/release notes for each release.
• Ensures quality deliverables through unit testing, regression testing and other quality control processes.
• Creates operational processes for the Informatica developers with a goal of achieving best practices in development and change management.
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline or experience required.
• Advanced training in data management practices and data modeling techniques, both dimensional and relational.
• 5+ years experience in Data Warehouse Development with a strong understanding of all data management and data modeling activities.
• 5+ years experience with star schema and dimensional data modeling and database design skills
• Experience building and designing data marts
• Technical data management and systems tools experience
• Demonstrated ability to design and develop complex database load and maintenance processes
• Experience with industry standard data modeling tools.
• 5+ years experience in project management, dataflow diagramming and logical data modeling practices.
• Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data base systems
• Data modeling, database administration, and performance tuning SQL, ETL, OLAP
• Ability to balance theory and practical reality.
