The Senior Cognos Developer will be responsible for developing framework model, reports, dashboards, and data access to support various initiatives from different departments. Position includes participation in all phases of full life-cycle development, working independently or with other team members and client representatives to analyze, design, develop, test, implement, and document system requirements based on business objectives.
Responsibilityo Design and develop Frame work model for ad-hoc query, drill-down, slice and dice capabilities, static reporting, managed queries, and dashboards
o Develop multi-page reports that utilize prompts and use PL/SQL as data source.
o Develop standard reporting templates and design metadata models.
o Develop and document BI Tool set standards, guidelines and best practices and deliver these though training or other knowledge transfer.
o Work closely with architects, data modelers and DBA to address data gaps.
o Work closely with business units in translating business/functional specifications to technical designs.
o Develop strategies for converting existing report platforms to Cognos BI.
o Setup and administer role based security for reports (using Active Directory).
o Install, configure, administer and support Cognos BI.
o Responsible for tuning and optimization of the reporting solution.
o Serve as a lead reporting technical resource and support all reporting activities throughout the development lifecycle.
o Make appropriate recommendations on enhancements to Business Intelligence System.
Qualificationso Bachelors degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four (4) year college or university and three (3) or more years related experience and/or training are required for this position.
o Proficient with Cognos BI tool include Framework Manager and Report Studio.
o Must have experience in creating advanced reports in Cognos including multi-prompt reports, drill down reports and conditional lay-outs etc.
o Must have experience in creating frameworks for new databases.
o Have an understanding of Data Warehouse, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, ETL and Business Intelligence.
o Proficient with SQL.
