Great employer in a stable business looking for a dynamic System Engineer.
The Systems Engineer II is involved in the implementation of new technology infrastructure and provides support for existing technology solutions. This role uses subject matter knowledge to assist with the creation and maintenance of standards, guidelines, and procedures. The Systems Engineer II is expected to work with other Infrastructure and Operations team members to ensure proper performance and functionality of infrastructure. The Systems Engineer II participates in infrastructure and business sponsored projects.
Responsibilities:• Perform the implementation, integration and initial configuration of new infrastructure systems. Implement enhancements to existing infrastructure in accordance with enterprise policy and standard best operating practices.
• Assist with the creation of enterprise documents (standards, guidelines, and procedures) and cross-train Infrastructure Operations team members to enable the transition of daily processes management and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor in-place solutions for efficient and appropriate operations. Review necessary logs and reports to interpret the implications of activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.
Assist with analyzing and troubleshooting of technology infrastructure
• Assist with monitoring, analyzing, and predicting trends for system performance and resource utilization.
• Respond to system problems on a 24x7 basis and take part in on-call rotation.
• Assist with change control, incident response, and testing processes for modifications to systems and software. This also includes: anticipating, mitigating, identifying, responding to, and resolving issues with the systems and software.
• Manages a large File and Print environment ensuring data security, availability, consistency, and archive strategies are maintained and operationalized.
• Maintains up-to-date detailed knowledge of infrastructure computing platforms and technologies for Windows Operating systems, Windows Domain Services, Comvault, VMWare ESXi.
Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or area of functional responsibility preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
• 4-6 years of working technical experience with building, installing, configuring, and supporting technology infrastructure and management software.
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to enforce enterprise documented standards and rules.
• Experience with Active Directory / Group Policy / DHCP / DNS / DFS.
• Experience building, supporting and configuring Windows server 2008/2012 server and IIS for application support.
• Proven troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting Languages: Batch, WMI, VBScript, PowerShell.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Strong customer service orientation.
