Overview of PositionThis position is responsible for the management of a software development team which will maintain and develop business systems applications and/or infrastructure for data warehouse/business intelligence. The individual will be accountable for people management, project management, decision-making and leadership for a development team. This person will serve as the primary contact with internal clients and will analyze requirements, be responsible for project plan and assigning project resources, assist with design issues, hold weekly project status meetings, and ultimately ensure project delivery on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
• Lead technical projects currently focused on datamart, business intelligence, and reporting applications from concept to implementation. Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed project plans. Direct and control work across multiple project teams, provide technical and analytical guidance to project teams, recognize issues and risks and make informed timely decisions.
• Working on critical enterprise level projects that will demand the ability to interact with multiple project teams such as, operations, product management, developers, and quality assurance to ensure continuity between organizations, and successful deployment of projects that meet the needs of the business.
• Responsible for mentoring developers and will be responsible the guidance of their professional development.
• Participate in and develop strategies for the performance management of engineering staff (including work planning, expectation setting, and career development, monitoring and periodically evaluating, and rewarding strong performers).
• Ensure adherence to project management and quality assurance standards.
Qualifications • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong technical understanding of Microsoft technologies; C#, .NET, and SQL is essential
• 5+ years of large scale project management experience delivering high-performance database products in the commercial software industry.
• 5 + years of direct management experience within a Software Development environment
• 5 + years experience as a programmer/architect developing commercial software products.
• Proven experience in all aspects of software development processes, include requirements gathering, architecture design, software design and development, performance tuning, and quality assurance. Project management certifications a plus.
• Strong people and performance management skills within a Software Development environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Project management skills - prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
• Detail oriented with a thorough and systematic approach to problem solving.
