The job does Business Intelligence for the Executive and the Independent Insurance Agents.
BI Generalist. To be effective:
- Versed in ETL, Data Analysis, Report writing. They use SISS but if you have Informatica you will do well.
- They are very interested in Data Dictionaries for documentation for business users.
- They are looking to grow this team, So, Sr. or lead type personality.
- Be an advocate for data mgt program by building strong relationships with stake holders and can sell it.
- Be nice to have data base administration knowledge
- She feels if she knew DB2 she would have done a better job designing BI solutions.
- They use Business Objects. They are going to iPartners for BI reports giving them data feed they import into data warehouse to build presentation layer. When this is returned then on top of this build internal data base. Want to get reports out to agents. Probably do some SSRS but basic stuff.
Description
- Present ideas for projects and enhancements to management and the executive team and promote growth and advancement for Data Management program by building relationships with key stakeholders
- Perform advanced data analysis, systems analysis, and data profiling, and develop technical specifications based on business requirements
- Collaborate with the IT support teams to design and create technical architectures that comply with corporate guidelines and restrictions
- Create and document specifications for BI or IT reports, dashboards, and other outputs
- Design and develop data warehouse objects and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting according to project requirements and specifications
- Develop technical best practices for database and ETL design
- Maintain metadata library including data models, documents, and other reusable items
- Test data warehouse and ETL design and functionality
- Design and develop, maintain or update, and provide technical support for BI tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods
- Performance tuning for ETL and data warehouse performance
- Interface with customers/business users to ensure the final design meets business and data requirements
- Generate standard or custom reports summarizing data for review by executives, management, clients, and other stakeholders
- Work closely with the project manager to develop and update the project plan and keep the project team informed of critical issues and dependencies on other teams
- Lead Unit and Integration testing and assist in User Acceptance Testing as needed
- Disseminate information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements
- Assist with support of OLTP databases as needed
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent training/education/experience.
- 5+ years experience developing queries, stored procedures, and reports on one or more major enterprise database platforms (i.e. Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2) Really wished she knew DB2 for design purposes.
- 5+ years experience with one or more major ETL tools (i.e. SSIS, Informatica, other)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.) and Windows
- 2+ Experience with tools such as Microsoft Reporting Services, Business Objects /Crystal Reports, or MicroStrategy for Relational Reporting a plus
- Demonstrated experience working on strategy projects and evaluating software in the BI, DW and/or Data Management space
- Demonstrated strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to lead and coordinate work in a team environment on large projects
- Ability to work independently on small projects with little to no supervision
- Accurate and strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Willingness and ability to accept and navigate political situations to insure program success
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet deadlines, complete projects and provide support for production systems
