Unique role to have both DBA andn SQL Development responsibilities.
The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and coordinating all database activities. This includes running scripts, database tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, designing and creating databases, resolving complex database related problems, creating stored procedures and monitoring/managing all database modifications and changes.
Responsibilities1. Responsible for the overall performance, tuning, and backup/recovery of all installed MSSQL databases across all environments
2. Proactive Maintenance and Monitoring of all instances of MSSQL servers
3. Write custom scripts to automate various daily DBA operations
4. Provide required reports from production environment to other departments on request basis and perform data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate information
5. Work directly with Engineers on data modeling, logical/physical schema design, SQL query tuning; and the application of data related business rules while assisting in troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolution.
6. Development of SQL stored procedures and SQL Database Programming in support of custom application development.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills1. Ability to apply best practices in Database Management and Database Programming to development and management of custom applications.
2. Strong performance tuning and capacity planning experience.
3. Strong familiarity with database replication, clustering, and log shipping.
4. Strong in SQL skills.
5. Strong problem solving abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to work in a team and individually.
7. Ability to multitask.
8. Experience using database monitoring tools and third party monitoring tools
9. Be able to provide production support on a rotating basis
Required Experience
1. BS Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience.
2. 5-8 yrs. of experience in the areas of Database Administration and Development.
