Lawson Systems Administrator/iSeries Systems Engineer. The incumbent will support the ERP Payroll and HR suites. You will be responsible for the day to day management of systems software, networking, systems integration, and hardware diagnosis and production configurations. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented, strong analytical skills, able to work in a team environment and independently.
• Manage operating system constructs to ensure that data is secured, access managed and audit reporting is produced for review
• Provide complex maintenance as it relates to system maintenance and monitoring, patch and service pack installs such as BSI tax factory, Lawson Microsoft Add-ins, LBI, technology patches, product lines, security, web servers and services
• Act as the contact person to Lawson Support on the technical side; support the bi-weekly payroll process each pay period; provide on-call support; review and solve application issues and proactively eliminate root cause issues
• Set up web users on LDAP and Lawson web user record; assist with Microsoft add-in queries; resolve issues relating to Lawson portal administration; assist with login issues
• Install, configure and manage the operation of the IBM System I servers
• Monitor backups and ensure backup integrity through BRMS and perform recovery tests as required to satisfy business needs
• Diagnose performance and operating system issues to ensure effective iSeries processing
• Examine day to day systems processes and to recommend improvements
• Advanced Knowledge of Lawson Directory Structure - LAWDIR, GENDIR, Product Lines, Menus and User Form
• Work on iSeries 6.1 and 7.1 OS level systems
• Identify performance bottlenecks and tune DB2
• Evaluate the server infrastructure and associated services and provide best practices guidance related to systems architecture and management
• Perform advanced network, systems, security, and applications engineering (analysis, design, and implementation)
• Apply advanced knowledge of Lawson Architecture, Servers and Services
• Will perform operating system software installation including: licensed internal code, operating system, and ISV software
• Collaborate on issue resolution with vendors, partners, and technical staff in support of initiatives
• Communicate the status of support requests to users and management
• Create, maintain and follow standards, policies, and procedures
Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
• Minimum 8 years experience in Lawson and iSeries management
• Knowledge of Lawson system administration including: Patch and service pack installations, performance tuning of Lawson web products and process flow, implementation of Lawson Add-ins, Configuration of Lawson Servers and Services
• iSeries (AS400) system administration including: network configuration, security, CL programming and performance tuning and capacity planning
• Experience managing a mid to large sized server configuration consisting of both physical and virtual servers
