1810 - Infrastructure Engineer - West Mpls Subs

Planning, installation, support and management of the data technologies operating in corporate and data center environments. This position is responsible for ensuring the availability and integrity of key business and operational systems including Network Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers, VPN and remote access services, and wireless networks. In addition to networking related functions, this position will provide a cross functional role directly involved with the implementation, maintenance, and support of server, virtualization, and infrastructure application technologies. Responsibilities also include serving as a technical expert for network and infrastructure systems management, assisting with root case analysis and problem resolution, performing routine system maintenance, supporting the use of defined processes and procedures, coordinating technology infrastructure problem resolution activities including escalation to external suppliers when necessary, supporting the infrastructure and technology change control process, and working with key business partners to ensure the appropriate availability and performance for these systems. To be effective, candidates must utilize excellent interpersonal communication and project management skills to facilitate interactions within the organization and supporting partners. Individuals must have significant experience in developing strategies, selecting technologies and vendors, planning and engineering, procurement, creating requests for information proposals, as well as researching and developing new technologies.
Successful candidates work closely and communicate with a variety of business and systems partners for requirements gathering and analysis, revising and enhancing system technology. Relevant experience with the major components of data network and systems environments is required. Candidates should have proven experience in the following areas:

• Knowledge of data networking and delivery of infrastructure systems and services, along with best practices expertise within the healthcare or services industry.
• Developing converged networking and systems strategies to meet business objectives and/or project requirements
• Experience in supporting enterprise class VOIP solutions through integration in a legacy PBX environment
• Expertise installing, setting up, and troubleshooting enterprise network equipment including firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless networks
• Strong knowledge of LAN/ WAN technology including TCPIP, VPN, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, VOIP, T1, Metro area Ethernet and DS3 connections.
• Significant experience conducting carrier services technology analysis, pricing analysis, and contract negotiation with telecommunication carriers
• Management and resolution of event responses escalated through the operational environment. This includes acknowledgement and acceptance of problems and events with appropriate diagnosis and resolution when needed
• Proven capabilities in planning and analysis for hardware, software and communication systems; development and implementation methodologies for systems analysis, installation, design and support
• Supporting the installation of new releases and upgrades for key infrastructure systems
• Performed research and evaluate new software and hardware technologies
• Recommend policy, procedure, and process changes to support current industry standards and practices
• Making recommendations and maintain appropriate working relationships with vendors ensuring access to support, product maintenance and software update.
• Maintaining business application and operating system licenses are in compliance with manufacturer requirements
• Documenting all areas of the systems including designs, configurations, operational manuals and maintenance plans
• Working with the business continuity staff to create and update system disaster avoidance / recovery plans
• Experience with cross-training teams to provide backup for other staff within the group
• Project management or have served as technical lead on infrastructure related project teams
• Ability to develop and present to executive staff architectures, business cases, designs, and projects
