1771 - Software Development Manager - Minneapolis, MN

115K to 135KIn this position, you will lead a team of talented software developers while working across software development teams and cross-functionally within the organization to accomplish objectives.

Responsibilities
• Performance Management - Support overall business goals by providing a link between the work of each individual and the overall mission of the software development department. Regularly meet with all direct reports. Actively coach and mentor team members. Prepare timely, detailed, accurate performance appraisals of software development staff. Use compensation plan guidelines and performance review scores to accurately determine salary adjustments.
• Project Planning - Transform a concept into a project. Perform necessary research to obtain background knowledge from industry, departments or clients. Break project down into major functional components. Recognize which components are new or existing and which are candidates for purchasing or licensing. Produce project planning/strategy report. Accurately estimate software development hours, personnel/space/equipment needs, and starting/ending dates. Also provide strategy and schedules up to 12-24 month outlooks.
• Project Management - Serve as the primary contact with internal customers/clients. Coordinate with other departments to ensure balanced, parallel effort. Produce schedules and specifications based on project research, market/business need, product management driven requirements, and other information. Provide guidance to team members when faced with design issues. Hold weekly project status meetings with team members. Communicate project status on a weekly basis. Recognize schedule slips, communicate with all affected departments, and produce new plans/schedules. Endorse and motivate team to support Software Development methodology.

Qualifications
• B.A., M.A. preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Five to ten years related experience and/or training
• Project management skills – Able to manage multiple projects concurrently, delivering on time and on budget
• Quality focused – Track record of delivering quality software products
• Human Resources Management – Previous experience building and developing strong teams, conducting performance reviews and developing measurable objectives
• Strong communication – Proven experience communicating to a broad audience from technical teams to key cross-functional stakeholders
Environment: Microsoft .Net Framework C#, SQL Server, WCF, web frontends.
