1636 - Network Security Analyst - Mankato, MN

Position Purpose

This position serves as an administrator and technical contact in matters related to computer hardware, software and operations. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, security and administration of computer systems, networks and applications in coordination with other team members. Maintains, installs and supports approved software and provides support and training to IT team members.

Required Knowledge and Experience

This position requires a Bachelors degree in computer science or closely related field and five or more years of computer processing and/or application experience, or equivalent. Must have advanced knowledge of network operating systems (LAN/WAN); data and voice communications; desktop operating systems and configurations; and server, desktop and laptop hardware and configurations. Experience with Microsoft and Cisco products required.

Must have leadership skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision. Strong organizational, interpersonal, decision making, and written/verbal communication skills required. The incumbent must also have presentation skills for one-on-one and/or group presentations. The ability to translate highly technical information into non-technical terms is a plus. Proven experience as a member within information services project teams required.

Dimension

The incumbent receives daily work direction from the Senior Technical Analyst & Operations Team Lead and reports to the Director of IT Operations and has no supervisory responsibilities, however supports all office locations, IT Operations and servers. The incumbent will provide support for the entire inventory of computer hardware and software for the company, including security, maintenance, operations, and planned replacement of these systems.

Major Challenges

The major challenge of this position is to support maximizing the use of technology to enhance overall productivity and improve efficiencies. This position is also challenged to ensure the smooth operation and coordination of all computer systems on an ongoing basis while maintaining a highly secure infrastructure. When a problem exists, the incumbent is expected to coordinate resolution and restoration of the computer systems to full operations as quickly as possible. The incumbent is further challenged to stay abreast of current and future trends and changes within the information systems industry as it applies to the company’s purpose.

Decision Making

This position, along with the IT Operations team and security officer will make security decisions of computer resources and determine potential use of computer technology to support the current business requirements and to coordinate training strategies. The incumbent will assist in solving short-term and long-term problems related to computer operations and usage.
